Expecting to enhance working environment and bring about economic effect to the company
Hanbo Steel has become to be supplied with water from Lake Daechung instead of the of the existing water supply source, Lake Asan in expectation of enhancement in working conditions of the employees and creation of new economic effect for the company when it use the water for industrial purpose.
An official at Hanbo Steel saidthe company has pushed ahead with the receipt of water from Lake Daechung since August 2003, and finally, it has become to ge the water from the lake from May 21.
Hanbo Steel received water from Lake Songsan and purified itfor industrial use at the early days of its operation and changed the water source to Lake Asan Lake, which has better water quality for industrial use and used the underground water as the living water. However, since the water from Lake Asan was also found to be not so good in for the industrial use, the company has become to get water from Lake Daechung.
The water from Lake Daechung will be supplied through an 84km-long water pipeline from the Daechung Dam by way of the Asan Purification Plant. If the living water is supplied from LakeDaechung, it will be used as the portable and living water for the welfare building, the research building and each of its factories. So it is expected to contribute in part to the improvement of the working condition for workers at production sites.
In addition, if water from Lake Daechung is utilized as the industrial water, the lifetime of the firm's facilities can be extended, supported by the reduction of the blow-down (forced water discharge to maintain water quality) quantity and therefore the effect of saving the usage of water can be expected. Besides, the generation of sludge is expected to decrease.
