A steel symposium for steel technology exchange between Korea and Germany attracted the many attendants from Korea, Germany, Netherlands, and Austria. The symposium was held in Dusseldorf on 4th and 5th July.
According to POSCO EU Office, the symposium was a part of '2005 Korea Year' by German government and approximately 80 attendants made it successful.
At the symposium under the theme of 'New Steel Technology,' Mr. N. S. Huh, Executive Managing Director, Technology Development & Technology Institute, POSCO emphasized on the development of continuous growth model in response to the changing environment of steel industry. He introduced POSCO's new technology development activity including FINEX and 6 Sigma managemental innovation movement to the attendants.
POSCO also exchanged opinions with the attendants from Thyssen Krupp Stahl and Saarstahl in the three sessions of Metallurgical Process Development, New Steel Technology of Production, and New Production for the Auto.
Especially in the session of New Production for the Auto of the second day of symposium, the heated discussion followed the presentation of ultra high tensile steel and high manganese steel for application to the auto sheets. It is said that the symposium was a chance of enhancing mutual understanding and cooperation between Korean and German steel industries, letting the attendants know the status of Korean steel industry.
